Bolidt, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht
The headquarters of Bolidt, manufacturer of cast flooring and plastic applications, are situated right next to the Noord river. This location in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht was due an increase in storage facilities and is now home to an entirely new innovation centre.
Lüchinger Architects designed a building that is characterised by smooth lines and transparency. The new construction comprises a logistics centre, storage space, laboratories, and brainstorm and presentation rooms, all in one building.
A tall, glass façade gives way to a triangular, open space with an unsupported span of up to sixteen metres. From a glass balcony, the visitor has a view over a floor filled with interactive test installations on one side, and over the activities of the company on the other.
The floors can be accessed by the stairs and through a fully transparent lift. The top floor houses the boardroom and a lounge, where work, lunch and brainstorming meet. The deck of the roof terrace, situated above the triangular space, was designed by KossmanDeJong as a sample card of the options Bolidts offers.
