In 10 years’ time, 50% of our projects will feature reused materials. This isn’t our own idea: it’s a government requirement. Regardless of our opinion on the matter, we decided a while ago to take action and prepare. We still have plenty of time to practice, which is a good thing, because it is a considerable challenge.

Fortunately, we are helped by the fact that steel has the best reuse potential of all facade materials. Unfortunately, we do not take advantage of this fact. Room for improvement! On the one hand, we can use this to distinguish ourselves from other market players, and on the other hand, it will present us with an important opportunity to talk about the real value of our products in negotiations with clients, rather than just discussing prices.

Several of our customers have already been able to convert their overstock or waste into cold, hard cash. We can connect you with parties looking to reuse your costly residual stock. This example is a small project that we worked on with TU Delft, but we are about to start a new project in Eindhoven. Naturally, someone will have to build it.

KM ODS and Jansen have shown that Jansen VISS, as well as several other solutions, are the most sustainable options of their kind. Environmental data are available on request. Still, recycling used materials can improve our sustainability performance by a whipping 18%, offering enormous opportunities for all of us and promising major growth in the market for steel façade elements.

When a project in Rotterdam was unexpectedly cancelled but the doors had already been finished, SuperUse Architecten came up with a creative solution and purchased all materials for their current projects. A good solution for everyone, thanks to the Harvest map. Without this move, these valuable doors might have ended up on the scrap heap!

Smart connections

But what if we come up with a concept that will never have to be scrapped and can be reused in various applications? Partnering up with architects, higher education and facade construction specialists, we managed to do just that. To see the result, just scroll down. A meccano solution with the most sustainable facade system in the world. We will soon be launching this solution and are still looking for partners to develop these lightweight steel structures into architectural lighthouses or tiny houses. Naturally, all of these structures will be added to the Harvest map.

Design

“Reversible Design” and the high residual value of steel really bring the added value of such investments to life. Smart, material-efficient designs that can be quickly disassembled help save time.
